Sylvia grew up in Grass Valley, California, living on a ranch-turned-kids’ camp, where the Good News of Jesus was shared with hundreds of children during the summer months. It was at a young age that Sylvia gave her heart to Jesus and the world of missions became an integral part of her life. Besides being actively involved in the camping ministry during her growing up years, she also served in Brazil and Peru on short term ministry trips. In 1982, the Lord brought Sylvia to Bellingham to work at The Firs. During her six years at The Firs, she began attending Hillcrest Chapel and got involved in teaching Sunday School. Hillcrest Chapel played an important role in her next adventure, the Lord leading her to Vienna, Austria for six years where she worked with another mission organization. Since that time at Hillcrest, the church has stood with her through its prayers and financial support, for which she is so grateful.
Russ Lambert grew up in Argentina, where his parents were missionaries in the Chaco. Russ attended boarding school in Buenos Aires where he and Luis Palau were classmates. He returned to Portland, Oregon to attend high school and university. Russ and his first wife (who died of brain cancer) served with Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC) in the Philippines at Faith Academy as secondary school principal. In 1989 they joined OC International and Russ served as Vice President of Operations.
After his first wife’s death, God brought Russ and Sylvia together and they were married on February 14, 2004. Since that time, they moved to Worthing, England for 19 months where Russ served as interim area director for OC’s North Africa, Middle East and Central Asia ministries. They returned to Colorado Springs in 2005 where they both worked at OC’s headquarters. In January 2011, Russ retired, but continues to work on special projects for OC’s president. He is also involved in mentoring men, one on one. Sylvia works in the Finance (in the area of donations) and IT (in the area of training) departments.
It is with hearts of praise and thankfulness that we write to say THANK YOU to Hillcrest Chapel for standing with us these many years. God is faithful, and we treasure you as part of our team in ministry.
