My work at Hillcrest is quite varied and ranges from pastoral care, occasional preaching, projects for our Board of Directors and Elder Council, to a variety of administrative functions such as human resources, staff supervision, managing our facilities maintenance crew, and helping with men's ministry events. This variety keeps me busy, and I love to connect with Hillcrest folks throughout the week.
How many kids do you have?
Nancy and I have three grown children and four grandchildren whom we love to hang out with! A highlight of each year is the big family vacation together! Our "empty nest" is partially filled by our two entertaining pooches, Kirby the English Setter, and Tess the Large Munsterlander.
What is your favorite book?
I love to read and yet I find it hard to name a favorite book, there are so many! In the last couple of years I have found myself re-reading and often recommending to others a small book by Brennan Manning called Ruthless Trust: The Ragamuffin's Path to God.
What was your favorite class in school?
In college I took one course about 10 times! It was called "basketball." After awhile the administration created a rule that students could only get one credit for that course, no matter how many times you took it!
What kind of music do you listen to most?
I love music and often listen to it the old-school way...the radio! I like jazz, blues, rock oldies, big bands, contemporary Christian, and even some country.
Where have you been educated and what was your area of focus?
I have a BA in Education from
Western
Washington
University and a Master of Divinity from North Park Theological Seminary in
Chicago .
